"Court was intimidating at first, but I started gaining confidence the longer I was there."

A little preparation can make a big difference.
  • I brought a PEN and NOTEBOOK

  • I neatly dressed in BUSINESS CASUAL

  • I made sure I didn't WEAR A HAT

  • I was ON TIME, in fact I was a little early

  • I made sure to TURN MY PHONE OFF

  • I didn't bring FOOD OR DRINKS into Court

  • I didn't bring ANYTHING ILLEGAL to Court

  • I was SEARCHED as I entered the building

I was RESPECTFUL AND COURTEOUS to everyone including the Court Clerk
What I've learned to expect:

The Officers at security usually told me where to go.

Most of the time I got in line to talk to the Prosecutor or Bailiff.

The Prosecutor offered me a plea bargain, but from my research I knew I could do better.
He also said I couldn't win if I fought my speeding ticket.
I said I appreciated the offer, but no thanks.

I took a seat in the courtroom. The Judge called my name and asked me how do I plea.
I said NOT GUILTY, and then she set a date for trial.

Instead of going home, I stayed in the Courtroom and learned a lot by watching other Defendants.
